30T AGVs handling nuclear waste
Challenge
Electricity produced at nuclear power plants generates radioactive nuclear waste, which must be taken care of in a way that does not harm the environment.
Solution
Two Solving AGVs were installed at a repository to move disposal canisters with spent nuclear fuel. The operation of the AGVs is monitored remotely from a control room in the disposal facility where an operator gives them transport tasks. One AGV will operate in an above-ground encapsulation plant, while the other will operate in a disposal facility located at a depth of more than 400 meters.
