Objective

The objective for this investment was to develop an efficient, silent and ergonomic assembly line, where teams of four operators handle both the preassembly of axles and final assembly of the truck. The axle is assembled directly after manufacture avoiding the need for buffers at the assembly line.

Construction

The carrier consists of a stable frame with slide mounted air cushions. The integrated hydraulic lifting table is driven by an air motor. The tilt fixture on top of the lifting table allows the axles to be turned towards the chassis. The functions of the carrier are controlled via foot pedals or from a portable push button box.

Result

The ergonomic design of the air film assembly carrier enables the same personnel to handle both the assembly of the axles and final assembly of the truck resulting in improved production efficiency and quality. By means of air film technology large and heavy loads can be handled in a smooth way.
