Solving Air Film Technology
Solving air film-based handling equipment, Solving Movers, are used to move heavy loads efficiently and safely in a variety of industries, such as paper and graphic, automotive, transformer and cable and heavy workshop industries. Solving load handling equipment ranges from simple, manually operated movement systems to driverless automated guided vehicles.
Construction
The air film transporter chassis consists of a load carrying steel frame covered with aluminium or steel floor plate. Air bearings and drive units are mounted according to load and manoeuvrability requirements. The control system is mounted in a vertical console or within the chassis. The pressure in the air bearings is automatically regulated according to the weight of the load and the position of the centre of gravity.
Advantages of air film technology
• Heavy loads can be positioned safely and accurately in all directions
• Friction is reduced to a minimum, allowing heavy loads to be moved with very little force
• No fixed installations in the building are required
• The layout can be changed at minimum cost
• Air film equipment are suitable for driving in narrow areas
• There is no floor wear due to the low friction
• A minimum of maintenance is required
Solving air film equipment makes no noise
Floor requirements
Air film technology requires no fixed installations; only compressed air and a good quality floor are necessary.
The quality of the floor surface affects the air consumption and the force required to move the load. For efficient air bearing performance the floor should be level, airtight, paper-smooth and free of cracks and steps. A concrete floor surface must be painted.
For occasional moves a substandard floor can be improved using thin sheet steel or PVC.
